An Event to Remember – 11th Annual Celebration of Life Gala Recap

The 11th Annual Celebration of Life Cancer Awareness Gala was as promised, one to remember.  We laughed, cried, rejoiced and inspired. Those who were in attendance were inspired to help make next years event even greater than this years. Our program was packed with live entertainment – singing (Hunter), spoken word (Lady B Smoove) and comedy (Gidget, Grant, Bald Head & Marlon Mitchell). We had some of the best acts on the planet who have graced many stages and even your television screens. Our hostess J Marie made sure our guests felt welcomed and that the show went along according to the program. We introduced our attendees to our current programs as well as our plans for more programs in the future that will all aide in the assistance of our Women, Children, Sick, Low-Income families and entrepreneurs.

The event was packed with raffle prizes donated by our generous sponsors, Total Wine & More of North Plano and A Feel Good Experience Spa LLC of Addison Texas.  We provided a wonderful dinner catered by KJ’s Supreme Catering and JNS BBQ, and drinks professionally served by the lovely ladies of mobile bar-tending service Bar Booti’k.  Our venue was beautifully decorated by event designer, Athena Devonne of Coalesce Creations;our ticket vendors Destiny, Misheki & Tracy helped to make sure there were no empty seats.
Our Team Code Pink comprised of our Founder Monique Muhammad, Bridget Battles (Seeds of Success/Budgeting with Bridget) and Keisha Hunter (Bizybuilder.com) made sure that all of the events back ground business was taken care of so the event ran like a fine tuned engine.  All of this greatness was  captured and will be available in one neat DVD package for $10 thanks to videographer Aaron B of Monte Carlo Street Productions, as well as these lovely professional photos courtesy of our awesome photographer Charles “City” Gbadebo of Photgraphy by Gbadebo.
My goal in forming this organization and this event was to Celebrate Life while inspiring others that no matter what unforeseen obstacle may be thrown in your path it is your faith, strength and ability to persevere that will and can pull you through.  I wanted to show those in attendance that I am a “Survivor” of life trials and tribulations and if after abuse, molestation, fatherless home, foster care and cancer I can still find a way to smile and help others, so can they.  I want to thank all those who attended, helped and donated to the event because without them is would not have been possible.  I want to thank God for giving me the strength, good health and determination to keep working for this organization and event as I know “I can do all things threw him who strengthens me”
Thank you for your time and remember we are always accepting any size donations as they all come together to help us in achieving our goals. God willing we will be having the 12th Annual Celebration of Life Cancer Awareness Gala on Sunday July 19th, 2015 in the beautiful city where it all began in 2004 and my Hometown –  Chicago, IL.  Mark your calendars now and if you can attend you need to make plans to be there because this promises to be the biggest and best show ever.
Love you all!
Monique Muhammad
